Tryst’17 promised to be much bigger and better than ever before. And this 4 day techno-cultural extravaganza surely lived up to it’s expectations. The repetitive patterns that adorned the institute area were symbolic of this year’s theme “Decoding the Pattern”.

Considered as the largest technical fest in North India, it commenced with a splendid inauguration at Dogra Hall on 23rd February’17. With great dignitaries present among the crowd, the stellar TRON Dance and the bewilderingWhats App Co-Founder mind reading tricks of Mark Edward left the audience wanting for more.

Events such as Mind Maze, JCB Innovation Summit and Ecological Quiz, scheduled for the first day, were a hit among students. However, the highlight of the first day was the much awaited Town hall Session with Brian Acton, the co-founder of Whats App. A full-house Dogra Hall listened as he talked about his inspiring journey and answered a vast array of questions posed by the audience. The fest became livelier as the second day began with various major events like RoboSoccer, Paper Presentation, Rubik’s Cube Competition, IIT Delhi Youth Robo Soccer TrystParliament and several departmental events such as Design and Drive, Hyperlapse and Electroquiz lined up for the crowd. In this year’s flagship guest lecture, Richard Muller, an American Physicist and popular Quora writer, delivered a lecture on ‘Climate change and Time as a fourth dimension’. This was followed by a hysterical stand-up act from Kunal Rao, of East India Comedy fame. The day concluded with the title sponsor JCB’s Digger Dance as the interplay between the heavy machineries left the crowd stunned.

Tryst’17 Guest Lectures:

The third day was overloaded with various major guest lectures – From the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt. of India, R. Chidambaram to the ex-CEO of Aston Martin, Ulrich Bez and from ‘Women of ISRO‘ featuring the project managers of Mangalyaan to the panel talk on black economy with Balaji Viswanathan and Amiya Bagchi among the panelists. Among the events scheduled for the day, the major attractions were events such as Save the Drowning, Explicase, Robowars and General and Sci-Biz-tech quizzes hosted by the much renowned Suraj Menon. These were followed by band performances by exciting upcoming Hindi bands Agastya and Antariksh as the crowd danced to popular Bollywood tunes.

Tryst’17 Workshops & Startups:

Several Workshops such as Android App Development, Ethical Hacking, Cloud Computing, Python workshop etc. organised by professionals were much sought-after by students of varying age groups. This year’s Startup Conclave, Tryst’s feature event, presented big names such as Manoj Kohli, Executive Chairman of SoftBank Energy and Dheeraj Jain, Director of Redcliffe Capital as part of Guest Lectures and Sequoia Capital, SAIF Partners and Matrix Partners as part of V.C. Lounge.

Tryst’17 Social Events:

This year’s Social Campaign ‘Jazbaa’ featured George Abraham, Founder Chairman of World Blind Cricket Council, as their ambassador. Among the various events organised as part of this campaign, the highlights were Social Biz-Case Competition, In Conversation with Akbar Khan and Under-16 Blind Cricket. The inaugural edition of Rassasy- Tryst’s Food Festival had loads of delicacies like thalis, momos, italian, chinese and desserts to cater every taste.

Tryst’17 Pronite:Tryst Pronite

For the first time ever, this year’s Tryst had a Pronite in store for everyone – ‘ELECTRONATION’ featuring DJ Afishal, the first visual DJ Drummer as the star act. His infectious energy got everyone off their seats and roaring to his beats. DJ Sartek and Kerano kept the party going as the confetti cannons and the light-sound coordination added to the mood. Tryst’17 has set higher standards for the years to come and their success clearly reflects the diligent efforts put in by every member of the team.
