USV Chairperson, Leena Tewari Bought India’s Most Expensive Apartment Just 703 Crore


Leena Tewari, Chairman USV Chairperson gains everybody’s attention now after buying the most expensive apartment in India. She bought a sea-facing luxury duplex property in Mumbai’s Worli area for Rs 639 crore. This deal broke records and surprised many in the real estate sector. 

A Record-Breaking Deal by Leena Tewari in the Real Estate Sector

On May 28, 2025, Leena Tewari, Chairperson of USV Pharmaceuticals, made headlines with the purchase of two sea-facing luxury duplex apartments in the Naman Xana building, located in Mumbai’s upscale Worli area. The overall deal is worth ₹639 crore, with an extra tax price of ₹31.95 crore.

This transaction set a new benchmark in India’s residential real estate market, recording the highest-ever rate per rectangular foot at ₹3,17,630, as per statistics from CRE Matrix.

It is designed in collaboration with the famous architectural firm Talati & Partners. The 150-metre residential tower overlooks the Worli Sea face and gives lovely panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. The building features 22 residential flooring and 11 committed parking areas.

About USV Pharma Chairperson

Leena Tewari is the chairperson of USV, a Mumbai-based pharma company, which was started by her late father, Vithal Gandhi, in partnership with Revlon in 1961. Forbes estimates Leena’s net worth at $3.9 billion, as of May 30, 2025, making her one of India’s richest ladies.

Leena keeps her life as private as her business affairs. She is famous as a close friend of Nita Ambani. Her husband, Prashant Tewari, who’s also connected with USV, is an IIT graduate and a mechanical engineer from Cornell. Their daughter, Aneesha Gandhi Tewari, holds a Ph.D. In molecular biology from MIT and was appointed to USV’s board in August 2022.
