The shark tank India startup Wakao Foods has raised INR 75 lakhs for the equity of 21% from Shark tank India. Shark tank India investors Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar & Ghazal Alagh invested in this gluten-free and vegan startup.
When Wakao Foods pitched its product to Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar, and Ghazal Alagh, they were pleased. Ghazal Alagh, Vineeta Singh, and Namita offered him Rs 75 lakhs in exchange for 30% equity. Still, Peyush Bansal, the CEO of Lenskart, was prepared to invest Rs 15 lakhs in exchange for 5% equity and Rs 60 lakhs in debt at 12% interest. Finally, Vineeta, Namita and Ghazal offered him INR 75 lakhs for 21 per cent equity. Anupam Mittal went out of the pitch, stating that he was not impressed with the startup idea.
Wakao Foods has significantly benefited from the expertise of the sharks who have accompanied them on this expedition, which has resulted in the ultimate mash-up. Exports will be possible for Emcure Pharmaceuticals, which currently has operations in 70 countries. In the future, Wakao Foods plans to develop physical stores to sell its products, and the D2C brands MamaEarth and Sugar Cosmetics may serve as inspirations for that goal.
