India’s First AI University: India is preparing for a major leap in technology education with the launch of its first Artificial Intelligence University in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, on February 19, 2026. The project is being developed in partnership with global technology leader NVIDIA, bringing industry expertise directly into higher education.

The university is expected to train 10,000 students over a two-year period, focusing on Artificial Intelligence research, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills that match global industry needs.

Industry-Driven Curriculum Designed by NVIDIA

The academic structure has been carefully designed by NVIDIA to ensure students gain relevant and future-ready skills. Courses will cover Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, data science, robotics, computer vision, and generative Artificial Intelligence.

Unlike traditional programs, the learning model will emphasise hands-on experience. Students will work with real-world tools, advanced computing platforms, and practical projects that reflect current industry challenges. This approach aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and workplace requirements.

Research, Startups, and Innovation Ecosystem

Beyond classroom learning, the university will act as a hub for research and innovation. Dedicated research centres and laboratories will support advanced studies in Artificial Intelligence applications.

A key component of the initiative is support for entrepreneurship. NVIDIA will help nurture up to 500 Artificial Intelligence startups, offering technical guidance and infrastructure to transform ideas into viable products and services. This ecosystem is expected to attract young innovators from across the country.

Artificial Intelligence for Public Services and Growth

India’s First AI University: The university will also play a role in expanding Artificial Intelligence across Andhra Pradesh. Focus areas include healthcare, agriculture, public administration, and digital governance, where technology can improve efficiency and service delivery.

Officials believe this initiative will strengthen the state’s position as a technology and innovation hub while contributing to national digital development goals.
